Prep Team

We have had a wonderful start to the year in the Prep learning area. The amazing students are settling in well to the routines of school. They are building their independence by completing their daily jobs every morning and trying new experiences in and out of the classroom. We have a diverse group of personalities and it has been great watching the students’ confidence grow and their individuality shine through.

In Literacy we have been learning about letter names and common sounds. Students are already using this letter/sound knowledge in their reading and writing. Through our language experience we are developing our listening skills, creativity, oral language and fine motor skills.

During Numeracy sessions we have been learning all about numbers to 20 and have even counted all the way to 100! We have explored shapes, patterns, ordering numbers and objects by size from smallest to largest.

Each week we are doing some Mindfulness sessions to help improve our emotional intelligence and understand our feelings. As well as these calming sessions we regularly have guided movement breaks to get our brains and bodies active and ready to learn!

We have met our Grade 6 Buddies and are very excited to start weekly buddy sessions in March.
