Our Vision and Our Values

At Newtown Primary School, we believe every individual will learn and flourish with the support of a committed team.

One word.
Four pillars.
Every single day.

Everything at Newtown Primary School is underpinned by one core value: RESPECT. It’s not an ‘abstract’ idea we talk about occasionally — it’s built into four clear pillars that shape daily life at our school:

Respect for self
Respect for others
Respect for learning
Respect for environment

These pillars are the lens through which every interaction, every lesson, and every decision at Newtown Primary is made, and we are proud to say that our students know what our core value is and what our pillars stand for.

Expectations that are clear, visible, and owned by our students

In 2024, we developed a schoolwide Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Matrix — and importantly, we did not do it alone. Staff and students coconstructed this, which means the expectations are not handed down from above; they are understood and owned by the very students who live them out each day. The result is a school where what’s expected of every individual, every single day, is explicit, visible, and lived.

Walk through our school on any given day and you will see for yourself: our students are caring, kind and — above all — respectful. It’s the quiet thread that runs through every classroom, every playground interaction, and every relationship. This is the school environment your child will grow up in.

Come and experience the Newtown Primary difference
where respect isn’t just taught, it’s lived.
